My personal experience
This is my personal experience with the company. The purpose of this page is not to damage their reputation or cause them to lose business but to inform other consumers of our experience, hoping they will make an informed decision when selecting a contractor to build or remodel their pools.
I included some pictures of our patio, unfinished work, mosquito-infested, and unsafe once California Pools stop coming. California Pools decided they had made their profit, and it had no incentive to finish the work, even though the work had been paid for and they were contractually obligated to complete it.
Why not to hire California Pools based on my experience:
- Unprofessional staff.
- They will sell you a "dream" and sign a contract with you. Once the contract is signed, they trade the work in pieces to another local contractor (demolition, tile work, coping, concrete, plaster, water maintenance) and offer NO supervision.
- Quality is not a priority. If you are expending less than 100K, they are not interested in the outcome. I was told that my 70K project had really low priority, and if the tile work was not to my liking, they would need to do a change order (basically more $ to fix their poor quality work).
- When you question the contractor doing the work (since there is no supervision), they tell you to talk to California Pools. A week or several weeks later might go by before California Pools shows up. At this point, they will try to minimize the problem or tell you that is what you paid for.
- There is no accountability at the local level or corporate level. Corporate will tell you that the contract is with the local franchise. The local franchise will ghost you. The local franchise knows there are no penalties or repercussions. The con is built into the business model.
- Total disregard for consumer protection at the corporate level. Even when you explain and document the problem you are experiencing with a local franchise breaking their contractual agreement, they will turn a blind eye.
